Los Angeles Times: Kirk Fox on Comedy, Tennis and His Dirtbag-Noir Novel ‘Palmdale’

Meridia author Kirk Fox is in the Los Angeles Times this week. In a wide-ranging conversation with Ali Lerman, Kirk talks through a career that runs from Nickelodeon and Parks and Recreation to Jury Duty, Reservation Dogs and Netflix’s Bad Thoughts — and why so many of his characters seem to end up holding a shovel.
The heart of the interview is Palmdale, Kirk’s dirtbag-noir debut about a private investigator and his estranged daughter reunited over a case. The Times calls the novel incredibly entertaining. Kirk explains how years of teaching tennis in Bel Air and Beverly Hills fed the book’s PI, Joe Soperton, says writing it proved to him he could finish something, and confirms that Palmdale is headed for the screen.
Kirk also returns to Sterlin Harjo’s The Lowdown on Hulu this season, stars in the upcoming film The Far Way, and is putting together a new stand-up special.
